Dr M David Hatchuel is a specialist surgeon, oncologist, and gastroenterologist with over 30 years of experience in the medical field.
Saving lives, limbs, and livelihoods, Dr Hatchuel is passionate about what he does, putting great effort into delivering personalised, compassionate care.
Having graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) Medical School, he’s also been honoured with a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (1987) and the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (2000).
He also had the privilege of serving as the head of one of the four academic surgical units at Helen Joseph Coronation Hospital complex (affiliated with the University of Witwatersrand Medical School), where his management decisions ensured modern, integrated services that make a real difference to people’s lives.
In addition to his work as a surgeon, Dr Harchuel has contributed to the development and education of the next generation of surgeons, passing on his knowledge and expertise to those who will follow in his footsteps as an examiner to the Court of Examiners Surgical Faculty at Wits University.
